Having a lot of friends is fun and there are many ways how to gain a lot of them. The first thing to do is to prepare yourself to be a friend. It means that you don't have to wait for somebody to approach you first. In a social occasion, you must make your presence be felt and look for friendly faces and introduce yourself or have somebody to introduce you.

You must also have to value yourself. Valuing yourself means you must have to developed positive values on yourself before you can give your self as a friend to others. You must also learn to listen to others. You should not monopolized all the conversation and let others shares with their own stories. By doing this, other people would felt that there presence is important too.

You must also learn to keep a secret. If you and your friend have a secret, you must keep it confidential and never disclose it to anyone.

It is also important to have a ready smile, a smile can uplift someone that is gloomy and sad.

You must also be ready to lend a helping hand. You must be ready to help those who needs help, by doing this you can eventually win a lot of friends.

To establish a lasting friendship you should be sincere; it means that you must be true to your friends. You must also serve as a shoulder to lean on to your friends whenever problems come to them. You must also be honest to your friend; that is, valuing the truth and say something that is real. It is also important to be humble and fair,and learn to accept mistakes.

Furthermore, to retain friendship, friends should always balance their work as well as their time so that they can be able to share moments together. They must also encourage their selves in the times of distress and discouragement, and friends should tolerate their individual faults and weaknesses.

Gaining and maintaining friends needs a matter of commitment. You must be committed to keep them and value them like you value a treasure.

You should also be wise in establishing friendship. First you must identify whether an individual posses a negative or positive personalities, characteristics or traits for they can possibly influence you. Establishing friendly relations to positive people will influence you positively.

My Friend Washington DC

I have a Friend Washington DC who I met in college.  We were roomed together in the same dorm.  At first, we did not get along because we argued about how to arrange the room, and we just totally could not agree on any thing!  We argued about who took longer in the shower, who snored in their sleep, and who needed to get up earlier or later for classes.  It took almost half of the first semester for us to get accustomed to one another's ways, but once we did, we have been inseparable ever since.

From the moment we decided to make friends with each other, there was no secret that we did not share.  Washington told me everything, and I told him everything.  We even pens, notebooks, and pencils, study notes, clothes, phone numbers and e-mail addresses from girls, and everything in between; what was mine was his and likewise.  All throughout our four years of college, Wash and I took the same classes and fought with administration to stay in the same dorm room together.  When we finally graduated, we knew that we were going to have to compromise about where we would both move to because we did not ever want to be living more than a few miles apart from each other in distance. 

We decided that we would start a law firm together.  That way, we could work together and there would be no reason for us to be separated.  Then, we decided that we should also just rent a studio apartment together to save costs.  By doing that, commuting to work together every day, and combining our savings accounts, we were able to form a strong law firm without taking out a loan, and our firm has become very successful over the years.  I can not imagine a day without my Friend Washington DC in my life, and he feels the same way about me.  There is no doubt in my mind that he is the best friend I have ever had in my whole life, and he is the only friend I will ever have until the day I die.

What is the definition of a real friend?

What is the definition of a real friend? The definition of a real friend is simple. Someone who will be loyal to you, who won't hurt you in any way, who doesn't have anything to gain from your friendship, except friendship itself.

In fact I'm jaded. I say it everyday that I don't trust a living breathing single soul, but that's not true, I actually trust too much.  It's so inconsequential when you think about it. Who needs friends anyway!

I usually stand up and distance myself from most people, keeping myself to myself, staying busy working night and day. Who has time for friends?  It's horrible isn't it.  I also had to take a step back and take a look at my own priorities where friends and family is concerned.  When your own mother has to make an appointment to talk to you, then you know you're too busy. 

If your children need more time with you to learn the great lessons in life and you're too busy working, then where are your own priorities.  Friends are over-rated but family is precious!

What is the definition of a real friend?

With confidence I say that the definition of a read friend is this:

"A friend can be defined as someone who would never hurt you intentionally in any way, although a friend can be forgiven for human error, as no one is perfect.

A friend can be inspired to listen to you because you care.  They know that because you care you aren't trying to hurt them in any way, yet you are trying to help them.

A friend means more to you than anything. It's a connection with another person you trust, someting sacred. 

A real friend will be careful not to breech your friendship in any way, meaning hurt you or cause you pain.  A real friend doesn't tell others what another person says, and keeps things in confidence."

What is your own definition of a real friend?

I'm happy with the amount of real friends I have. I suppose I'm a little more blessed than most.  I've been fortunate to be able to hold onto long-time, high-school, college-days, and family friends for over half a century now. Yeah I'm old, so I've learned well what a real friend is. I think wisdom comes with age (but not all the time, lol).
