Make Friends and Meet People Washington DC

When I was transferred here for my job, I really wanted to Meet People Washington DC. I didn't care that much about meeting a man as I was in just making friends. I made several friends with people in my office, but I am very guarded about letting co-workers know too much about my personal life because that got me into sensitive situations in the past.

I'm not into social networking any more but when I was I allowed my co-workers to "friend" me. That gave them access to where I was and a whole bunch of other personal information that was none of their business. I only "friended" them because I was new to the company and though it would be rude to reject their friend request. I have since closed my account and no one can know my business any longer. Thank God I'm an incredibly open and friendly person who doesn't mind striking up a conversation with a woman working on her computer at a coffee place. Or if I see someone holding a tennis racquet, I'll ask him or her where they play tennis and ask for their phone number so that I can get more information about their tennis club. I meet people wherever I go, so it's no surprise that I found it so easy to Meet People Washington DC. I'm constantly getting transferred from office to office so packing up and moving every two years is nothing new.

From ballroom dancing lessons, to cooking classes and even rock climbing outings, there's never a shortage of events to attend. Since I am mostly looking for female companionship - not that I wouldn't like a man in every city I've lived in- there are several women at these events and since I'm really good at talking to strangers and making follow-up plans, it makes it even easier to find friends.

A co-worker of mine who is painfully shy has recently warmed up to me. We went out for a drink after work and I invited her to an event that we were both mutually interested. In the beginning she found it difficult to speak to anyone else other than me, but as the night went on she began to meet people and enjoy herself more and more as the night wore on. The next day at work she told me that she had a blast. You can't cure shyness overnight but she was more than welcome to tag along as much as she wants to.

Friendship is not by force but willingly

This is because most people confuse the word friendship; so what is friendship? Here are some key points that can lead us to the correct definition of friendship.

We are always the highest value, and it seems that our life is stagnant or declining may indicate a fact, we are not in good standing. When a person is in a bad relationship, then it is clear that friendship can be established. The level of growth and progress they make in life is a function of the level of friends to join. Each year we analyze the number of friends to keep and those who have no value my life is immediately rejected. Why has a choice in the type of friends warned, is for me to decide to continue or discontinue a relationship with someone to call a friend.

There are two ways of life, the road to success and failure of the road. The location of these streets is usually filled with a barrier or another, all to ensure that we reach our destiny in life. One of the things that can help us in our journey towards the destiny that God has ordered life is the ability to combine good friends. Our friends will help align our radar, our destiny in life. It should be noted here, a friendship can be fun when both parties move in the same direction. As interest and your friends will be around until the end, it's time to call out.

If you have a touch of envy among those who call upon our friends, when we send on their excellent results, this is not a good sign. I've seen people get upset because their friends have just bought a new car. Spirit of jealousy is a destructive spirit, which obstruct the free love and unity among friends.

I once had a relationship for almost a year, I thought that someone close to my heart. The day came when I realized the need to evaluate the relationship. I meditate on the friendship and it was clear that I was not honest with myself. The relationship was going nowhere, and this was due to the fact that we never had a specific goal from the beginning. We were just going to the starting point and deceive us, but it was all taken. Some friends do not tell us the truth, what I feel inside for fear of hurting us. Honesty is the foundation of any true friendship, and as long as there is, nothing good can come of such a relationship.

The Trick to Making Friend Washington DC

When I first moved here I had no problem making Friend Washington DC. This city has so much to offer and so many wonderful sights to see, that if you're outgoing like I am you will have tons of friends in no time.

When I moved into my apartment building in the city, I made my first friend my first day there while walking my dog. It's so easy to find friends if you have an adorable animal attached to your arm. It was winter and there was snow on this grassy area in front of a church. My dog loves running in the snow so I let her loose to prance around and so did this woman who ironically has the same breed of dog as me and happened to live on the exact same floor.

It was an instant bond. I knew within five minutes that I had a Friend Washington DC. We struck up a long conversation in front of that church and then went back to the same floor and made plans to meet for coffee across the street the next morning. We also both took care of each other's dogs when one of us was out town, and also helped out with the walks when one of us had to work late.

I also found some friends online. I'm a big backgammon fan and there's this website where you can play with people in the same city on your computer. I met this one man named Rick who was at the same level as I was. I'm an excellent backgammon player and it's so disappointing to play people that aren't as good as you are. Eventually, after months of playing online he asked if I'd like to meet at a backgammon club in DC.

So Rick and I finally met and played in person. He wasn't anyone I was interested in dating. Besides, he was 30 years older then I, and was married. He just turned out to be a great Friend Washington DC. He also loves baseball. But we don't like the same teams so we would spar with each other about how our teams are doing. I also met his wife who is a wonderful woman and always bakes me brownies. I'm so glad I moved here.

Communication - A Two-way Street!

Don't lecture me! Can we have a conversation? That means, each of us get a chance to share our thoughts, ideas and feelings. Where I live the downtown consists of many one way streets which can be confusing for visitors and frustrating for locals who have to go up two blocks to get back to a place you want to go. Communication is a two-way street that should have traffic flowing freely in both directions. Listening is essential in communication. Don't think about what you are going to say while listening to the other person. Repeat what the other person is saying. Now, it is time for you to communicate your thoughts, ideas and feelings.

What should I do if my communication street has a traffic jam? Here are three simple steps that can be used to help clear that traffic jam and allow the communication traffic to flow freely.

1. Compliment - the other person about good qualities or something you admire about him/her.

2. Console - do your best to understand the other persons point of view. Seek to understand by imagining yourself in his/her shoes. When you imagine think of how he/she may feel, what he/she may be thinking and why he/she may be acting in a certain way.

3. Communicate - Now it is time to communicate by receiving, repeating, and responding.

Have you ever felt awkward receiving a gift from someone? The gift was nice and you really liked the gift. You just did not know how to respond. Do I say thank you, should I hug the person? Communication can sometimes feel awkward when receiving because you do not know how to respond. Receiving can be easy when you know how to respond. My little secret is to respond by repeating what you heard in your own words. This keeps you honest by forcing you to listen for understanding. Once you have an understanding now you are ready to respond.

It definitely takes two to Tango and it takes two to communicate. Let's take the time to compliment, console and communicate with those we have relationships with. Remember the better you communicate the more effective you can be , therefore, leading to success in your life!

Family Smackdown: Using the Social Aspect to Create Lasting Change

I just read a great book called Change Anything by 5 different people. It's an empirical study of how people create change. What are the factors involved? They narrowed it down to three:

1. Personal

2. Environmental

3. Social

Each one has a motivational component and an ability component. You have to be motivated to change, then attain the ability to do so. You have to take personal responsibility. Jesus asked one person, "Do you want to be healed?" Then you have to create the environment for change. Don't buy a bunch of snacks at the grocery store and think that you can use your will power to not eat them. The last part, and I think likely the most important part, is the social aspect of change. Let people in your life know what you are trying to do. Build in the accountability, connection, and encouragement. We have found that we get much better results with groups than we do with individuals.

We work not only with emotional intelligence, but mental and physical peak performance. It all works together to create amazing, lasting changes personally and professionally. One recent group of 21 top leaders lost over 200 pounds as a group and significantly increased their emotional competence, especially their interpersonal skills.

A couple of the guys decided to bring their family in on the fun. As a family, they decided on some goals and put them into a spread sheet. One of the guys called it The Family Smackdown. It was a competition. The family members who did the most activities over an eight week period won cash prizes.

The items were:

Sleep (7 hours)

Water (8 glasses)

No sugar

No junk food

Fruits and vegetables (2 servings each)

Journal

Scriptures (15 minutes) and two prayers

No eating after 9 pm

Act of kindness

It energized the family and helped the participant and his family members to make those positive changes. And these initiatives tend to linger long after the end of the program.

There is a friend of mine on Facebook who I have known for 30 years. One day, she put on Facebook that she was going to start walking. She wrote every single day after she finished her morning walk and created quite a following. Some days, there were more than 50 comments, encouraging her and reinforcing that behavior. And she kept walking. At the one year mark, there were over dozens of people who commented on her status, encouraging her and congratulating her. One person gave her a very expensive pair of walking shoes as a gift for making the one year mark. She is up to 459 days and she has now lost 60 pounds and her outlook has totally changed. Would she have attained these results without that social aspect? Perhaps. But it is a powerful testament to adding the social into any change endeavor that you have. She has inspired many others to walk. And another friend who has encouraged her has put on Facebook that he is going to quit smoking.

Change is hard. Period. And we need all the help and encouragement we can get. So accept the personal responsibility, create that environment for change, and get as many people in on the process as possible!

3 Ways to Rekindle the Passion in a Relationship

We all know that relationships have ups and downs. Hopefully, more ups, then downs. And with every relationship, they must have open lines of communication. Then, things are said out of frustration, disappointment, anger and an argument ensues and all hell breaks loose.

We all have different upbringings and it's important to talk about your concerns.

The second way is to come up with common grounds for the tidiness of the living space or what have you. You have to do some negotiating and decide on some shared values and standards so that you can get what you want and they get what they want. For example, you may decide that leaving dishes in the sink over night is OK, but they must be done in the morning before anyone leaves.

The numerous differences that couples have can build up over time. So the third and extremely effective technique is called a emptying out session. You start by saying, here are some things about today I'd like to get off my chest, or let's clear the air, or I want to get clarity about what you said today, or I want to ask you about this. You do not want those things to build up so sit down at night and talk about them.

Many people do not have the techniques to deal with these situations. We all have struggles and strife in different areas of our lives and at different times. Receiving guidance and encouragement from someone who has proven they are successful at what they do, can be very beneficial. That's how a coach can be of unlimited value. We are constantly developing, and investing in self is paramount. The rewards are endless, there's no limit.
